RamsesIII and the Sea People
|
During the reign of Ramses III, the peoples of
the Middle East were in turmoil. Desperately looking for land on which to
settle, they fought amongst themselves and against the mighty Hittites of Asia,
whom they defeated. Then they joined forces and looked towards the fertile
valley of Egypt. Together, they became known as the “Sea People.”
Ramses III had defeated the armies of the Sea
People on land and on water. He reigned for 31 years, surviving a conspiracy to
murder him. He died during the trial of the conspirators, a death that ended
the reign of the last great pharaoh of Egypt
