When the Aswan Dam was made 13 temples had to be moved, one of them was Abu
Simbel. This whole imense rock structure had to be moved or it would be ruined.
It was taken apart and moved then rebuilt. Unless you knew that it had been
moved you wouldn't know that it had.

In 1300 B.C., the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses the Second spent fourteen years
building Abu Simbel, a temple of the gods. For this temple, the movement of the
light was calculated so as to flood further into the temple as the sun rose,
finally revealing the image of Ramses the Second at the front.
