Alexandria's Light House

One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Build by Ptolemy Soter around 290 BC and was completed after his death, estimated to have been about 400 feet high and was one of the tallest structures on earth. The lighthouse of Alexandria (also called Pharos lighthouse) was used to mark the harbor, using fire at night and reflecting sunrays during the day.
When the mirror was brought down mistakenly, they did not restore it back into place. It was later in 1303 and in 1323 that the lighthouse was destroyed by a series of earthquakes.
